Hemsedal Bygdatun is an open-air museum located in Ulsåk, with stunning views of Hydnesfossen. The museum showcases buildings dating from the 1600s up to 1876, reflecting life on a farm in Hemsedal in the 18th to 20th centuries. The museum is centered around the old farm Øvre Løkji, one of the oldest farms in Hemsedal!

The surrounding cultural landscape, with stone walls, highlights the hard work of clearing farmland in the steep terrain.

In the summer season you can visit our museum with a museum guide, who will give you a tour of the buildings. Outside of these hours the museum is free to visit and provides a beautiful outdoor experience. We can also arrange guided tours for larger groups outside of our opening hours. Contact us to arrange a guided tour.

From the museum, there is an old mountain farm trail leading up to Skogshorn. This has become a popular hiking trail that leads to Geiteberget, Storhøvda, and Skurvefjell.
