About us

WE TELL THE STORY OF BUSKERUD THROUGH PICTURES!

Buskerud Fylkefotoarkiv has the overall responsibility for preserving and making available photo collections related to Buskerud.

We are part of Buskerudmuseene, where we serve as a shared service with photographic expertise for the museums. This means we provide images, assist, and offer guidance on the preservation and use of photographs.

We are also part of the national network for the preservation and dissemination of cultural-historical photography, offering advice to anyone in Buskerud seeking guidance in this field.

Our collection is made accessible to the public through our own and others’ exhibitions, as well as digital platforms. We collaborate with municipalities, heritage associations, filmmakers, and authors, providing images for various projects and publications.

Although we do not have a dedicated visitor center, whenever you see a photograph in one of Buskerudmuseenes departments, there’s a good chance it comes from our collection.

Examples of our daily work:

  • Making the photo collection accessible
  • Collecting, cleaning, identifying, and digitizing historical photographic material
  • Exhibition production
  • Providing images for books, magazines, documentaries, research, websites, and individuals
  • Advising and assisting with object photography and photo preservation
  • Contemporary documentation
  • Photography

Have any questions? Feel free to contact us, and we will do our best to assist you!
