Accessibility
Villa Fridheim is beautifully situated on Bjørøya, when you get to Noresund there is a sign for Villa Fridheim from the roundabout, then follow county road 192 approx. 850 metres, then turn left onto county road 192, drive for 2.3 kilometers and turn left again onto a country road. Follow the country road, and be aware that there may be potholes in the road, then drive straight ahead for 1.2 kilometers and you will see Villa Fridheim.
Parking
There is some parking outside Villa Fridheim, especially intended for those who have trouble walking, otherwise there is a large signposted parking space 500 meters before you get to Villa Fridheim.
Availability
The entire 1st floor is accessible to those who use a wheelchair, contact the staff and they will provide a ramp to enter. Unfortunately, the rest of the building is not adapted for wheelchairs, and we do not have an HC-toilet, the toilets are in the basement.
Such considerations were not taken at the end of the 19th century when Villa Fridheim was built. But if you come in the summer, our outdoor area is nicely arranged for everyone.
For children (and adults)
On the main floor, there is a large playroom where the children can express themselves freely, here they can dress up, draw and play with the toys.
Outside, we offer activities such as stilts, blocks, smashball and badminton. We also have a playhouse with an accompanying sandbox for the little ones. Right next to the playhouse, we have a wonderful garden with spices, flowers and vegetables, where both adults and children can enjoy the scent of the plants.
We also have canoes and life jackets for rent, but to rent a canoe an adult must be with you.
The museum's little friends, Idun and Isak, help you explore/learn more about the importance of cultivating the garden yourself and don't miss that the various edible flowers and spices can be used both in food dishes and not least in medicine.
