Plassane-building (1820-1845)

In the Plassane-building you will find the museum's reception with a small cafe and museum shop.

Here you buy entrance tickets to the museum.

In the museum shop we sell Bygdebøkene, as well as other local history literature. You will also find souvenirs where the design is based on objects you find in the Sigdal Museum collection, i.e. a unique design.

In the café, you can buy coffee, freshly baked waffles, mineral water and ice cream. And you can count on pleasant service to serve you what you have ordered.

On the 2nd floor we show temporary exhibitions.

The Open Air Museum

The museum's outdoor area is open to everyone whether the museum is open or not. We are constantly creating a nice area that both locals and visitors can use.

There are bins placed around the yard, and we appreciate that they are used by our visitors.

In 2024, we received support from the Sparebankstiftelsen Sparebank1 Modum for new benches at the museum, to the delight of all our visitors.

Accessibility

Sigdal Museum is located in the center of Prestfoss in Sigdal Municipality, if you drive west, the museum is located on the first road after the bridge in Prestfoss on the left side of the road, then you drive 250 meters up the road and turn left again. Right next to Sigdal secondary school/ community center in Prestfoss.

Parking

There are good parking options in the museum area, and in the area of the secondary school. If necessary, you can also drive right to the door of both the visitor center and the exhibition building, Magasinet.

Availability

Since the buildings in the Open Air Museum date from the 15th-19th centuries, they are not adapted for wheelchair users. But in the visitor center in Plassane, it is possible to enter with a wheelchair, and in Magasinet there are also facilities for wheelchair users, including a HC toilet.

There is also a path leading up to the Open Air Museum, which is wheelchair accessible.

For children (and adults)

In Berganstua at the museum area, we have a timber building station which is open during the museum's opening hours. Here you can let your imagination run wild and build yourself a castle in timber if you wish. Or perhaps a copy of the Eikje building?

If the museum is open, you can borrow outdoor games, available for play for both adults and children!
