Our collections

Sigdal Museum manages an extensive collection of cultural-historical objects with a historical connection to Sigdal and its surroundings, and this is also the museum's area focus in collecting objects.

We have two places to visit, Sigdal Museum and Eggedal Mølle with associated collections and together we manage 23 buildings, 13 at Sigdal Museum and 10 at Eggedal Mølle. There are historic timber buildings from the 15th-19th centuries, where 5 of the buildings at Sigdal Museum are protected.

The object collection comprises approximately 14,000 objects, 8,000 in Sigdal Museum's collection and 6,000 in the Tveiten collections. The photo collection contains 4,000 photographs, and today almost half of the photographs have been digitized.

At Sigdal Museum, we practice a passive collection of objects/materials, which means that new objects or new material taken into the collection mostly come from gifts, most often from private individuals.
